🌨 WE ALL STILL DIE🌨
Since she was a young girl, a darkness has polluted Miss Tempest Láng. She has been touched - by a devil, by a demon, by something from the other side. Tempest has peered into the deep, dark heart of bayou and it looked back at her from those long, terrible shadows. The bayou has made the choice to stay with her, to keep her. No matter how far she treads, the bayou will always beckons her from the shadows.

Old daguerreotypes depict Tempest as a perfect Edwardian Girl. Her sweet, girlish round face is framed by long, black hair that is styled carefully with ringlets and drawn back with a bow. Her lovely dark eyes are shaded by long eyelashes. She is coy and demure, wearing a long dress with large sleeves and wearing an elegant broach. Early calotypes find her poised over a croquet bat, or perhaps sitting on a picnic blanket, or standing on a bridge, always watching the camera with a languid intrigue. Truly, a beautiful young woman.

However, this contrasts with the reality of Tempest. Early photography fails to capture the wateriness of her eyes, the listlessness in which she carries herself. Their lack of color deprives her of the ruddiness of her cheeks and nose, the yellowness that sometimes appears at the corner of her eyes. Tempest looks perpetually sick. Her kittenish demure becomes disinterest, or perhaps a genuine fear to be in the spotlight. She’s cut all her hair off. It falls just back her mid-neck and sticks out at all angles, uneven and strange. She wears men’s clothes, a choice only somewhat saved by the fact Tempest can competently tailor her own clothes. Her confident beauty reduced to a strange and rat-like woman who skitters about as far out of sight as she can manage.

The wires are crossed about Tempest. One side describes her as awkward, clumsy, and dull; another praises her shrewd intelligence, her refined way of speaking, and her carefully tempered vibrance; and one is markedly surprised by her reflexes, alertness, and her athleticism. Put them in a room together and everyone scoffs, “our Tempest isn’t anything like that.”

Tempest is, simply, all of these things. She is studied and her intelligence is impeccable. She is foolish and perpetually lives with her own foot in her mouth. Her skills possess her as if they were not her own. She is a liar and a thief. She is coasting through life as if her mind is tethered to a cloud. She knows every single person around her and understands their shadows better than they ever could. Nobody knows her, Tempest refuses to be known. Tempest is scared to be known.

🌨 demon bit🌨
When she was a child, Tempest and a parasitic creature infesting her cat came into a contact with a much more dangerous beast. Both were, unsurprisingly, ripped to shreds. In a last ditch effort to save its own life, the parasite jumped into Tempest. This choice that saved both their lives, but left each of them dealing with severe costs. Neither Tempest or the parasite are independent from the other and neither can assert complete control over the other. This unlikely situation has made it so both Tempest and the parasite must attempt to live in unity. Their combined skills makes them at least competent, so that counts for something.

🌨 Doctor🌨
Tempest has intended to become a doctor since she was a young girl. Much of her post-basic education centered on the sciences, medicine, and anatomy. To this day, she still carries with her an edition of Gray's Anatomy. When she was 20, Tempest was able to attend the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, she attended for only four months before dropping out and disappearing to the streets of Philadelphia. From there, she fell in line with retired doctor, anatomist, and body snatcher Algernon "Barnaby" Barnabas. Algernon was able to provide Tempest with a long and rigorous apprenticeship that never quite ended and came with a multitude of odd stipulations and tangents that did, eventually, provide her with a license and a striking familiarity with human anatomy. Quite frankly, Tempest is rather qualified for the fool that she is.

🌨 Sixth Sense🌨
There has been some benefits to Tempest's unfortunate situation. The parasite is intent on keeping itself, and therefor Tempest as well, alive. It operates largely in the background and focuses on the smaller details of Tempest's surroundings, giving Tempest an extreme edge on those attempting to get the upper hand on her. Tempest has extraordinary reflexes as she effectively has a second set of eyes, ears, and hands within her senses. However, this is only true when she is caught unaware. Tempest often ignores the parasite to the extent she is able to. The two have had little opportunity to truly explore the more defensive aspects of the parasite's powers. Tempest is aware of her ability to perceive other monsters around her and darkness has not been the same since she was a child.

🌨 A Weak Heart🌨
The rush-job joining has left both parties wanting. Tempest and the Parasite are left much weaker than they would have been. Tempest has a weakened heart and thus requires the parasite to help regulate her body so both can remaining functioning. The parasite is unable to invade Tempest's mind like its other victims, so Tempest must communicate aloud to it. Her strange, occasional mumbling gets her odd looks and puts her on edge. When the parasite exercises control, especially for long periods of time, Tempest's eyes begin to yellow and she begins to feel as if she is hung-over. Needless to say, Tempest has garnered a reputation as an insane drunk with a fickle constitution.
